Sunday, December 7 - Harvard-Yale Pickleball Mixer
Join us for a fun and relaxed social with pickleball for Harvard and Yale Westchester alumni.
By now, we've all heard of (or heard) Pickleball, a hybrid racquet sport (with a funny name) that was invented in 1965 as a cross between tennis, badminton, and Ping-pong. Over the past decade, pickleball has exploded in popularity from a fringe sport to a national phenomenon. Games are played either indoors or outdoors on a 20 foot by 44 foot court that resembles a giant ping-pong table with a net that is a few inches shorter than a tennis net. The ball in play resembles a whiffle ball struck by solid paddles.
Our gathering will be held at the Lifetime Athletic facility in Harrison, NY. Several state-of-the-art, climate controlled courts will be available, and refreshments will be provided in an adjacent lounge area. Participants of all skill levels are welcome from players wanting a first experience to more advanced players. A pickleball pro will staff the event and provide instruction and organize play. For those without their own paddles, extra equipment will be provided. Experienced and novice players can keep score for intercollegiate matchups!
