September 18 - Harvard-Radcliffe Club Pickleball Social * SOLD OUT*

Join us for a fun and relaxed introduction to Pickleball for Harvard-Radcliffe Club members, alumni and their families.

Pickleball is a hybrid racquet sport (with a funny name) that was invented in 1965 as a cross between tennis, badminton, and Ping-pong.  Games are played either indoors or outdoors on a 20 foot by 44 foot court that resembles a giant ping-pong table with a net that is a few inches shorter than the net used in tennis.  The ball in play resembles a whiffle ball that is struck by solid paddles.  Over the past decade, pickleball exploded in popularity from a fringe sport to a national phenomenon as noted by the New York Times announcing that "Pickleball is Ready for Prime Time".

Manny Boya will be our coordinator / instructor for the Club's pickleball event.  He is a designated sport ambassador for the United States of America Pickleball Association (USAPA) as well as a gold and silver medalist pickleball competitor.  Manny and his coaching staff will host a maximum of 24 participants from the Harvard-Radcliffe Club of Westchester at Manny's indoor facility, Cross Court Pickleball, in Hawthorne, NY.  They will provide an introduction to the game and teach basic technique and strategy.  Paddles and balls will be provided, so participants only must bring appropriate footwear (non-marking sneakers) to pick up a new sport!  Refreshments will be provided by the HRCW.
