Volunteer at Our New Way Garden
Back by popular demand! Come enjoy some camaraderie at this family-friendly service event while gardening to increase community access to healthy produce!
Please join us on Saturday May 21, 2022 for a community service event with Our New Way Garden (ONWG), a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization headquartered in Purchase, New York. ONWG grows produce at several garden sites in Westchester County without the use of pesticides, herbicides or chemical fertilizers and it donates the majority of its organic harvest to local food pantries, soup kitchens and other Westchester community sites in order to increase community access to healthy organic produce. ONWG seeks to educate the public about naturally and locally grown food and it sells "farm shares" in its CSA (Community-Supported Agriculture) program, where members of the public receive fresh, locally-grown vegetables and fruits through a subscription-based program during the summer months while supporting ONWG's efforts to increase underserved community access to healthy produce.
The Club will provide refreshments prior to gardening.
According to the event host:
- Primary planned activity: Planting spring vegetables.
- Children of all ages are welcome when accompanied by an adult.
- There is a chance of getting dirty. Closed-toe shoes are recommended.
- Feel free to bring gardening gloves if you have them - loaner pairs will be available as well.
- Bring water (preferably in a reusable water bottle).
