Harvard-Yonkers logo March 23 & 24 - 15th Early College Awareness Program with Yonkers Public Schools (VIRTUAL for Yonkers families)

For the 15th year, the Harvard-Radcliffe Club of Westchester and alumni volunteers offer this unique program encouraging 8th and 9th graders in resource-constrained Yonkers to go to college.

The Program seeks to inspire and motivate students and their parents and guardians through early college awareness.  It features a variety of speakers, including speakers who may have themselves been the first in their families to attend college.  The program will be offered District-wide this year to students and their parents and guardians at 20+ Yonkers public schools, with separate events for English and Spanish-speaking families.

In this 2-hour virtual program for 8th and 9th graders and their families, attendees learn:

  • what life in college is like and what students can get out of going to college (any college, whether a 2 or 4-year program).
  • what types of resources are available to finance college, including financial aid.
  • how they can put their best foot forward in high school to prepare for college.

If you are interested in helping with this program or would like to learn more, please contact Jeewon Park at jeewonpark123@yahoo.com.   Volunteers fluent in Spanish are especially needed.
