April 21 - 14th Harvard-Yonkers Early College Awareness Program (VIRTUAL for Yonkers families)
For the 14th year, Club volunteers offer this unique program encouraging students and their families in resource-constrained Yonkers to attend college. In this 2-hour program which will be held this year for 8th, 9th, and 10th grade families from Yonkers Middle High School, attendees learn:
- what life in college is like and what students can get out of going to college (any college, whether a 2- or 4-year program)
- how to successfully navigate high school in preparation for pursuing a college degree
- what types of resources are available to finance college, including financial aid
The Program seeks to inspire and motivate students through early college awareness. It features a variety of speakers, including speakers who may have themselves been the first in their families to attend college. Normally held in-person, the event will run virtually this year.
Typically we would have a number of volunteers present to help support this event. This year, because the event is virtual, we will need fewer.
