Annual Meeting and Luncheon May 19!!!
This year's Annual Meeting and Luncheon will take place at 12:00 at Sunningdale Country Club in Scarsdale NY. Our featured speaker will be Harvard Professor J. (Woody) Woodland Hastings, speaking about his new book "Bioluminescence: Living Light, Light for Living." In his new book, Professor Hastings and co-author Therese Wilson explore the natural history, evolution, and biochemistry of the diverse array of organisms that emit light. Once considered an esoteric area of research, bioluminescence now plays a critical role in modern applied science, including rapid detection of microbial contamination in food and water, locating cancer cells in patients and understanding the circuitry of the brain. In addition to being a leader in the field of photobiology, Professor Hastings is one of the founders of the field of circadian biology, focusing on the body's natural sleep-wake cycles. As always, guests are welcome at this exciting event.
