LAST CALL! VIRTUAL - June 15th - the bioethical challenges raised by Covid-19: A talk with Harvard law Professor I. Glenn Cohen
How do we think about the bioethical issues raised by COVID-19?
- How should hospitals and other policymakers allocate scarce resources like ventilators?
- Do hospitals have the right to fire doctors for talking publicly about the lack of PPE?
- Are there legal or ethical concerns with "immunity passports," "digital contact tracing," and other attempts at technological solutions?
We are excited to welcome I. Glenn Cohen, the James A. Attwood and Leslie Williams Professor of Law at Harvard Law School and the Faculty Director of the Petrie-Flow Center for Health Law Policy, Biotechnology and Bioethics to talk about various bioethical issues raised during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Professor Cohen will share his perspectives on how to approach these different issues and open up the discussion to what should be a healthy Q&A.
Cohen is one of the world's leading experts on the intersection of bioethics (sometimes also called "medical ethics") and the law, as well as health law. He was the youngest professor on the faculty at Harvard Law School (tenured or untenured) both when he joined the faculty in 2008 (at age 29) and when he was tenured as a full professor in 2013 (at age 34), though not the youngest in history.
Cohen is the author, co-author, editor, or co-editor of more than 15 books, 150+ articles and chapters in various journals, as well as frequent Op-Eds in the New York Times and Washington Post, and commentating on CNN, MSNBC and other news outlets
