October 22 - Volunteer at Our New Way Garden
Come enjoy camaraderie at this very popular family-friendly event while gardening in support of community access to healthy produce!
Join us on Sunday October 22, 2023 for the Harvard-Radcliffe Club of Westchester's first Community Service event of the year with Our New Way Garden. Food insecurity is a growing problem in the US and this nonprofit addresses these issues. Its mission is to educate the public about locally and naturally grown food, increase community access to healthy organic produce, support local businesses and provide productive activities and positive sources of income for youth.
The farm location will be either at the Pepsico Headquarters garden and greenhouse in Purchase, NY or at the New King Street garden in West Harrison, NY. Participants will receive an email prior to the event confirming location details.
The Harvard-Radcliffe Club of Westchester will provide refreshments prior to gardening.
According to the event host:
- Possible activities include: Harvesting, Planting, Fertilizing Trees, Weeding.
- Children of all ages are welcome when accompanied by an adult.
- There is a chance of getting dirty. Closed-toe shoes are recommended.
- Feel free to bring gardening gloves - extra pairs will be available as well.
